Sue "hijacked" Andy for a surprise trip to Louisiana as a birthday present. We left Minneapolis for New Orleans on September 14th and spent Thursday night at the Marriott on Canal Street. On Thursday and Friday, we spent the day touring the city and visiting areas where Andy grew up. On Saturday, we toured Nottaway plantation and then joined Mom, Ron, Emily, Stephanie, and Andrea for a lovely dinner at Mike Anderson's. Sunday arrived all too soon and we had to return to Minnesota.

The pictures of New Orleans do not do justice to the extent of the damage from Katrina, but I wanted to post some of the photos we took of areas of interest to our family. What the photos don't show (and you simply have to imagine) is that these snapshots reflect what in reality is block after block of the same scene, repeated in stark detail. Also keep in mind that these photos were taken slightly more than one year after Katrina struck.
