April, 2005

April was another busy month in both Minneapolis and Colorado Springs.  We started the month by moving Sue, Travis, and LeAnne into a new rental house.  This one is about two miles outside of town and sits on 15 acres.  Complete with horses, much to LeAnne's delight.  The acreage gives the kids a lot more room to run, and the property included a LARGE shop/garage, so Sue was able to bring her boat and camper over and store them on site.

April is also Katie's birthday month, and she really enjoyed becoming a teenager.  Katie had a Las Vegas-style games night party complete with real game tables and dealers.  Between games, there was dancing, food, cake, presents, ...  Everybody seemed to have a lot of fun.  The following weekend we held Katie's "family-only" birthday party at The Famous Steakhouse.  Dad drove up and joined us for the weekend, and we spent part of the weekend doing more property shopping, this time up in Woodland Park, CO.

Katie's family birthday celebration

We always do a family-only birthday celebration for the girls in addition to their party for friends. Katie wanted to go to "The Famous", a steak restaurant in downtown Colorado Springs.

Rachel as Molly Pitcher

Rachel's class studied the Civil War and put on a "Wax Museum" performance at their school. Rachel was quite impressive as Molly Pitcher, a Civil War heroine.
