March was a busy travel month for all of us. First, Sue
came down to Colorado Springs and we toured around a bit looking at property up
near Perry Park, Colorado. We also had a very enjoyable hike through the
city park behind Andy's apartment complex and looked at some new homes being
built just above the pond shown in the pictures. Andy and Sue then
returned to work in Minneapolis where we were later joined by Katie and Rachel
for the kids' Spring Break.
Spring Break was a week of firsts for Katie and Rachel.
This was the first time they had met Sue's children, LeAnne and Travis. It
was also their first time visiting Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Great Lakes, and
Canada!

Enjoying a Spring Day |

We took a nice hike in the city park behind my apartment, where the girls like to play with cattails. |

LeAnne's Band Concert |

In mid-March, LeAnne participated in a district-wide band concert in Princeton, MN. LeAnne plays clarinet. |

North shore of Lake Superior |
|
We drove up to Thunder Bay, Canada through Duluth, MN and along the scenic north shore of Lake Superior. Still pretty icy in March! |

Travis and Rachel at the falls |

We stopped at several state parks and waterfalls along the way to give the kids (and us) a chance to stretch legs and see the sites. |

Deer on Lake Superior |
|
We saw a lot of wildlife on our drive up to Canada. Mostly deer. Hundreds and hundreds of deer! |

Bald eagle feeding |
|
We also came across a bald eagle feeding on a deer carcass. It patiently allowed us to take photographs from across the road. |

Too close |

I tried to get a little bit closer for a photo, but the eagle decided it had had enough. |

On the other hand... |

The eagle didn't leave for long. As soon as I recrossed the road, in came the eagle to finish it's lunch. |

Hunting Easter Eggs |
|
After we got back from Canada, Sue and Andy hid Easter eggs in the park at Rum River. Each kid was assigned a specific color (kept things fair) and then headed out into the park to find all of their eggs. |

Just in off the trail |
|
We spent a day at the Mall of America shopping and riding rides. In the afternoon we stopped into a photo store to have an "old-time" photo taken of the whole gang. |
